PURAP Pressure Relief Mattress System for Bedsore Prevention and Treatment

PURAP Pressure Relief Mattress System for Bedsore Prevention and Treatment

The PURAP pressure relief mattress system helps with the treatment and prevention of buttock bedsores at the hospital or at home. It has helped thousands of customers who had existing pressure sores (pressure ulcers) or were at risk of sores – people who are disabled, bedridden, elderly or have limited mobility. It prevents the formation of high-pressure points that cause sores. It uses a proprietary 3-layer pressure relief technology called fluid 3D Flotation, which has been tested at Stanford University Hospital. PURAP provides one of the lowest peak pressures and outperforms most of other pressure-relief mattresses and true air-loss alternating mattresses.

PURAP nearly eliminates high pressure points

Pressure mapping comparisons show that while other support surfaces create high pressure points (red and yellow areas), PURAP almost eliminates high pressure points and provides more uniform pressure distribution. This helps prevent formation of new pressure sores and helps heal existing sores faster.

  • Low air-loss and alternating air matresses

Alternating air systems work by inflating and deflating attempting to redistribute pressure points.

Low air loss systems work by blowing air through small holes on the surface of the mattress, attempting to minimize the ‘rebound’ of the mattress. To be effective, they need powerful pumps that force more than 15 litres of air through the mattress per minute.

  • The PURAP mattress system

Our mattress system helps reduce high pressure points under the sacrum by increasing the amount of support at high pressure points and dissipating the high pressure over a much larger, active support surface. Moreover, the fluid layer moves around freely in a bladder, so it easily adjusts to the shifting positions of the patients and adjusts to the changing high-pressure points.

Hear from our customers

  • Prevents formation of high pressure points

Our mattress system eliminates the formation of high-pressure points and provides a continuous low, uniform pressure. This is critical for fighting sores.

  • High-end performance at affordable price

The PURAP mattress system provides better pressure dissipation and lower peak pressures than many high-end low air loss mattresses that cost thousands of dollars.

  • Completely Quiet. No pumps. No moving parts

Most of the other bedsore pads have a high-powered pump system that needs to run constantly. Our mattress system has no moving parts and is completely quiet. It is ready to use of the box.

Gave relief to my darling mother days before her death

My mother became bedridden very quickly after a slow steady decline from Alz. I was desperate to give this beloved person to me relief from the terrible pain as her bones protruded as she got thinner and thinner. Turning her was painful for her and us.
I got this and noticed she had less pain the times we turned her before her death. Thank you for providing some dignity and comfort to a person I adored. I will continue to recommend this and the seat cushion which she used for 2 years on her couch with no pressure sores there either.

Seat Cushion

The wheelchair seat cushion is great, however, it could be a little larger and it would be perfect. Our wound-care provider had not seen the PURAP cushions previously and liked it very much. She did have us rotate the cushion 90 degrees, so that the cutout was to the front, rather than back due to concerns that the seam was impeding healing. Other than those two things, we would recommend it.

Beware not really washable

First and foremost yes this thing absolutely works hands down I have to give it props for that because it absolutely cleared up my mother's bed sores, but the cons are that it's pricey due to its composition and, it has no washable outer covering and for the price should come with one, so as you use it it will retain stains and smell and eventually the rubberized surface will wear off but it will take you the better part of a year to get it to that point...

Helped My Wife

My wife was accepted into Kaiser,s hospice program approximately 6 months ago. About 1 month into the program her care givers were concerned about the redness at the base of her spine. She was told, you have to get on your sides to help relieve the pressure on the area involved. She had difficulty doing this because of her condition. With the redness worsening and her knowledge of what pain and suffering a bed sore can cause I researched what was available in the market place and decided on purchasing the purap system. After using the product, the area that was becoming a bedsore became very manageable and helped in my wife's comfort and peace of mind. The care givers were very impressed with the improvement and all of them wanted to know more about the system.

Really helping my sister

My sister has a Stage III bed sore. When I bought the PURAP, she had a Stage IV bed sore, and it was not improving. Feeling like I had nothing to lose, I bought the PURAP and took it over to my sister. In a little over a month, my sister's bed sore has improved and she can really feel the difference. We were so impressed, we also bought the seat cushion. Who knew?
